Sweet Sarah

Sarah Palin was in Lancaster for a rally on Saturday morning. This is the quote from a supporter the Intelligencer Journal published today:

"She's a sweetheart" and a family woman, said Charlie Faltermayer, of Quarryville, shortly before Palin entered the Lancaster Barnstormers field carrying her son, Trig, and wearing a tailored, cream-colored jacket, black skirt and knee-high black boots.

"I know when she gets to the White House she'll keep John McCain in check," Faltermayer said. "That little sweetheart will go all the way."

Let's remember, folks, she's running to be the vice-president of the United States...not America's sweetheart. I daresay it's not a job that calls for much sweetness. We are talking about the job Dick Cheney currently holds. Somehow, I can't imagine anyone caring to hear the details of what Dick Cheney was wearing at a rally or considering him well-qualified for such a high office because he's a sweetheart. What happened to the pit-bull? I've been wondering all day how you can simultaneously be a maverick and a "little sweetheart".

It gets better.

Out in the infield, Palin turned sunward and spoke animatedly to a packed stadium. Rays glinted from her earrings and glasses.

She's a real girl. She was wearing earrings and all. Nobody talks about Hillary's earrings. They just make fun of her pantsuits. Sarah wears skirts, did you notice?

But friction was not entirely absent, according to Obama supporters...Nicole Peace said she walked to the protest from her Lancaster home only to have a passing woman brand her a "traitor."

Ah, see...don't forget to vote for John McCain for president, ladies. Seriously, he put a woman on the ticket so if you don't pick her (wait, I mean him - the one running for the presidency) then you can quit complaining about the glass ceiling, you traitors.
